Solving Noise Problems for Valves and Actuators Seminar

Overview:

During this one-day course, students will become more aware of noise generation and their effects on regulators and control valves. Students will learn about how noise is generated in both regulators and control valves and different techniques that can be used to help provide noise abatement. Students who complete this course will be able to:

  • Learn how noise is generated
  • Recognize when noise may cause concerns in both regulators and valves
  • Understand different techniques that can be used to provide noise abatement
  • Obtain an understanding of basic installation best practices to minimize noise

Topics Covered:

  • Intro to Noise
  • Noise Levels
  • Noise Sources
  • Fundamentals of Aerodynamic Noise in Control Valves
  • Cavitation
  • Source vs path treatment
  • Low noise valve / regulator designs

Prerequisites:

Have a basic understanding of what are regulators and control valves. Having some field experience is preferred but not necessary.
